Wishing Well Lyrics

Christopher Cross

Words and music by Christopher Cross and Rob Meurer

In this land of accessories
The obsolescent sheen
Like so many fools before us
Lost in dreams

What's behind the curtain
The dinette or the stole
Such important choices
To satisfy the soul

Take it on down to the wishing well
Make a wish to stop your wishing
'Cause you just can't tell
Give it up

The power of suggestion
The tabloids and the tube
Muscles and money
Tits and glory
What's your story

Are we so unhappy
Being what we are
Sly told us a long time ago
Everybody is a star
Give it up
